At Topline Roofing we are a united team with a balanced and wide ranging high level of expertise, capable of delivering exceptional results.

Company Director Neil Gillespie has over 40 years of industry experience and holds NZQA certification for roofing along with plumbing certification with LBP (Licensed Building Practitioner) status. All of our management team has huge industry expertise, take a look at their impressive work biographies. We have a dedicated, qualified Health & Safety Manager, a registered Quantity Surveyor and a specialist Roofing Estimator with 30 years’ industry experience.

Our trade’s team on the tools are led by experienced competent Leading Hands. There is an extensive mix of technical skills in the trade’s team ranging from metal roof and cladding laying, membrane roofing, gutter installations, flashing and detail work, roof leak sourcing and repairing.

Apprenticeships

Neil Gillespie is passionate about encouraging young people to choose a career in the trades. He has personally committed to up-skilling and training apprentices and tradespeople for over 30 years, and is an appointed trustee on the board of the Apprenticeship Training Trust (ATT).

The ATT is a nationwide, charitable organisation that was set up in 1991 to support the roofing, plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying trades. It provides trade training opportunities in the form of mentored apprenticeships for people looking to start careers within the industry.

Training

We carry out up-skilling and team training on a regular basis, incorporating our suppliers and their products, Safe Operating Procedure training, full technical training on site and at the Topline Workshop, and in-house health and safety training.

All staff are encouraged and supported by the company to achieve higher levels of expertise in their trade.

Staff and their Project Managers are sent on specific courses to achieve Site Safe Construction Passports, Fall Arrest Training and Elevated Work Platform Training. In addition, Team Leaders are sent on First Aid and higher level Site Safe training courses.

We encourage all trade staff to achieve their NZQA certification in roofing and to ultimately achieve LBP status.

Awards and accolades

The Topline team has won multiple training awards over the years. In 2021 we achieved the RANZ Roofing Training Company of the Year award, once again, having been nominated by The Skills Organisation. We have also collected multiple awards for staff achievements in the industry including the TDDA award for Health & Safety and a coveted SiteWise accolade for over 7 years from 2016-2024. More recently we have been proud to be associated with various award-winning projects including 6 Star GreenStar rating office block, ministry of education flagship schools, B:Hive to name a few. Naylor Love winning The Property Council Excellence awards and the Gold and National awards for Commercial and Civic projects ($5m-$15m categories) for Devonport Library.
