Training and apprenticeships

At Topline Roofing we provide trade training opportunities in the form of mentored apprenticeships for people looking to start a career within the roofing industry. All of our apprentices gain NZQA qualifications.

A roofing apprenticeship is a NZQA Level 4 qualification, structured over two years (4000 hours) of on-the-job learning within your business. Booked within the first 6 months, the apprentice will complete the relevant health and safety units, covering working at height, workplace first aid and construction health and safety.

Topline offers two strands of roofing - metal roof and wall cladding (MRWC) and roof membrane qualifications.

Roofing bookwork is completed through The Open Polytechnic. Depending on the strand of roofing, there are 3 to 4 stages of theory. For MRWC there is a 1-day practical upon completion of theory. For the other strand, this is done as on-job assessments.

By completing the required unit standards and practical experience, the apprentice will achieve the National Certificate in Roofing Level 4 (Installer) and become a qualified roofer.
